This picture is piped in two sections with the center section covered by a half-round sugar egg. This cuts down on the time spent on the cake while still giving the counted cross stitch effect.

Counted cross stitch in sugar is not a terribly difficult technique to master but it does require a steady hand and the willingness to repeat the same action over and over.

This class can be a two hour class with a very simple picture or a four hour class with the picture shown above or a very similar one. To begin you really want a picture that can be done in white on a colored background or a picture that uses only a few colors.

The cost of the two hour class will be $40.00 and the cost for the four hour class will be $75.00.

Students will bring: one (or more) plaque(s) embossed with the counted cross stitch pattern in the appropriate size (contact me to choose your picture and plaque size), royal icing that has been strained through a nylon sock, nylon sock for additional straining if needed, piping bags, PME tips in either #0 or #1 if you don`t have 0`s - you will need one tip for each color, bag holder with a towel or sponge, small air tight containers for each color used, small paint brush and cup for water, hat pin or needle tool.

The consistency of your icing is the key to this technique. If you have a question about this, err on the side of a bit too stiff and we can thin it in class.
