This picture is sideways. I do not know why. I cannot make it turn right side up but the flowers and bug are designed to be displayed in a bud vase.
In this class students will learn the basics of working with gum paste by making both a comic ladybug and a rose. This is a 4-hour class so there is ample time for experimentation and explanation. All students may not require the full length of time to complete the pictured pieces. epending on time and supplies available additional bits and pieces will be offered. Class cost - $50.00 plus $5.00 for supplies.
I will have all the gum paste made and pre-colored for you.
Students will bring: modelling tools, rolling pin, rolling surface, shaping foam, waterbrush or paint brush and cup for water, 1 - 1 1/2" styrofoam ball, needle tool or long sharp hat pin, X-Acto knife, at least two pieces of moss green cloth covered wire in 20 gauge, at least three pieces of white cloth coered wire in 22 gauge, about 1/4 cup cornstarch in a puff, small amount of shortening in a container with a lid, black paste color and a small amount of either vodka or lemon extract, wire cutters, needle nosed pliers, small paint brushes for applying dusting powders and paints, a piece of styrofoam for drying pieces as well as carrying them home.
Optional Equipment: students may elect to bring rose petal and rose leaf cutters and veiners. We will be making a rose in this class, but you can cut the petals by hand or with the back of a decorating tip if you want to wait to buy cutters. You can also share a set with a friend or two. Dusting powders for rose retals and leaves - you can make the rose without any shading if you wish. Several people can all share the same pot of dusting powder provided you all want the same color. You will want something that goes well with pale pink. If you want to shade the leaves and caylx you will need moss green petal dust.
