Class option 1-Comical Dragons

This class is an 8 hour class. It can be done on two different days (4 hours each day) or all at once. During the class students will learn to make all the parts for their dragons. If it is a one day class I will bring the parts that need to dry ahead of time. If it is a two day class we will make the dry ahead parts on the first day and assemble the dragons on the second day. Students should be able to make two small dragons in the time allotted. To get the most out of this class it will be helpful to have a drawing or sketch of a dragon that you would like to make.

I will have the gum paste ready for you but you should plan to bring the paste or powdered colors that you will want to use to color your paste or be content with the colors that I choose.

Tools to bring:modelling tools, rolling pin, rolling surface, waterbrush or small paint brush and a cup for water, X-Acto knife, needle tool or long sharp hat pin, 1/2 cup cornstarch in a puff, small amount of shortening in a container with a lid, wire cutters, assortment of cloth or tape covered wire in various gauges, needle nosed pliers, tweezers, orange stick, 2 - 1 1/2" styrofoam balls, 2 - 2" styrofoam balls, medium sized sheet of styrofoam on which to dry opieces and finished dragons (it may also be helpful to bring a box into which the styro sheet will fit for transportation home), 2 bamboo skewers, round toothpicks, cutters for wings (leaf cutter make great wings) and assorted cutters for interesting openings on the wings and/or ridge scales and frills (decorating tips with round or teardrop shaped openings are good for this purpose) - look through your stash of cutters and bring things that look fun -- there are no rules in dragon making. Lustre or pearl dusts in the colors of your choice to complement your dragon for spots, accents and the like, small paintbrushes to apply the colors and a small amount of vodka or lemon extract in an airtight container.

Class Option 2 - Dragon Making for the Serious Connoisseur

The scope of this class will vary as it is determined by the wishes of the student. In this class it will be possible to make a dragon between 12" and 24" in size including or excluding details as you wish. Please contact me for specific pricing and supply list. You will need to have a pretty specific project in mind so that I will know how long it will take to complete.
