Noah`s Ark
Class Option 1 -Boat Building Made Easy - 1 Day class
Students will learn to make just the actual ark its self. This design can easily be converted for use in many different cakes. Class will be 8 hours. The cost is $100.00 plus $25.00 for supplies.* Maximum 12 students.
I will have all the gum paste and fondant pre colored and ready for your use.
Students will bring: Modelling tools, rolling pin, rolling surface (either a plain vinyl placemat or purchased surface), waterbrush or paint brush and cup for water, X-acto knife, needle tool or long sharp hat pin, PME cutting wheel, 1 cup cornstarch inside a brand new never been worn nylon knee high stocking, small amount of shortening in a container with a lid, wire cutters, needle nosed pliers, Jem strip cutters in the following sizes: 9 strips (1/8"X7"), 7 strips (3/16"X7"), 5 strips (1/4"X7") and 2 strips (7/8"X7"), FMM wood grain mold, orange stick, sharpie marker medium point, 3 pieces cloth covered moss green wire 20 ga., toothpicks, 1 - 12" particle board round, 1-6" cardboard or particle board round, powdered food coloring in brown and red, 1/4 - 1/2 cup vodka, 2 small airtight containers with lids, 1/4" flat paintbrush, one 12"X18"X2" sheet of styrofoam that has been cut in half and glued together with Gorilla Glue to form one block that measures 12"X9"X4" (this will form the large part of the ark), one piece of styrofoam either glued together or cut to 5" long X 3" wide X 4 3/4" high for the cabin, two pieces of styrofoam cut to 6 1/4" long X 3" wide X 3/8" thick for the roof pieces, waste pieces of styrofoam for the cupola, cupola roof, small ark and small ark cabin.
Class Option 2 - Animals Animals Everywhere - 1 Day
In this class students will learn to make the animals that go on the ark, but not the boat its self. We will add Noah in there if time permits. Class will be 8 hours. Cost is $100.00 plus $15.00 for supplies.*
I will have all the gum paste pre colored and ready for your use as well as those parts of the animals that wiill need to be made ahead so that they can dry before use. Students will make their own parts for use at a later time.
Students will bring: Modelling tools, rolling pin, rolling surface (plain vinyl placement or purchased surface), waterbrush or small paintbrush and cup for water, X-Acto knife, needle tool or long sharp hatpin, about 1/2 cup cornstarch in a puff, small amount of shortening in a container with a lid, wire cutters, needle nosed pliers, orange stick, toothpicks - round, PME cutting wheel, small amount of vodka or lemon extract, an assortment of brushes for applying dusting powders, spots and eye highlights, various small round-bottomed items for drying rounded things such as Cel-formers or flower formers etc., we will be drying the bodies of the cows and horses and sheep in these so if you don`t have Cel formers or flower formers bring something else of similar size, a medium sized piece of styrofoam on which your animals can be dried and transported.
Class Option 3 - The Whole Thing - 2 Day Class
Students will make the entire piece, ark, animals and all. Due to differing work speeds, all students may not completely finish each aspect of this piece - not to panic - complete directions for each item will be given and the finishing touches will not be difficult to apply at home. The cost of this class is $175.00 plus $35.00 for supplies.*
I will have all the gum paste and fondant pre colored and ready for your use. I will also have the parts of the animals that need to be made ahead of time for ease of handling done for you. Students will make all their own parts as well for use at a later time.
Students will bring the supply lists for both of the one day classes found above.
